Must the Polaroid fun come to an end?

With Polaroid throwing in the towel, I ordered up some of the remaining 669 film, hauled out the DayLab Junior, and we made a day of printing pictures.

Here's a shot I took in Eastern Oregon on the way to John Day a few years ago:

I also printed quite a few images from one frigid November morning in Beijing last year. We stayed with our friend Jess in her courtyard house nestled in one of the old hutong (alley) neighborhoods, a gray-walled warren of one-story dwellings. It's the kind of place regularly yielding to the shiny high-rises that signal the New Beijing.

I love how the Polaroid coloring sets off a time warp; are these pictures from a hundred years ago or 2007? And I love the fact that almost every image I took that frosty day features a red door and a bicycle.
