Pulp fascination

This week amazing paper maker/sculptor and artist Helen Hiebert wraps up her public art installation The Mother Tree at the Portland Building, 1120 S.W. Fifth Ave. The best time to visit is around midday so you too can learn how to contribute a root.

A luminescent marvel of a paper dress rises like a trunk from the lobby floor, where hundreds—thousands?!—of strands of crocheted fibers nest, interweaving, tangling, and trailing to outer edges of the piece. Check here for hours and details.

BTW, I stole the image from Helen's Flickr site, hope she doesn't mind.

And this last image I took from her blog, which documents the growing pile of roots and many of the people who come to weave them.
