Zai jian to the last of "Beijing Heart"

Lately I've been doing a lot more writing than boobkinding, as shown by the less-frequent posts on this blog, but I did get a call from my distributor Vamp & Tramp for more copies of Beijing Heart: A Tiananmen Story.

I found a last copy in my studio, so now it's headed to West Point and the book's officially out of print. The illustration above is one of three in the book, snapped as surreptitiously as possible in the square and hand-printed using a Polaroid transfer process and my trusty DayLab Jr. I was just kicking myself the other day for not stockpiling some 669 film. (For more Polaroid transfers, check out my little online gallery.)

Copy geeks rejoice

On a recent vacation to that golden place, I delighted in the fact that the San Diego Reader runs a reader-interactive feature called Typo Patrol. Since I'm that kind of person, I circled the mistakes as I read and turned them in. A week or two later and voilĂ , here comes a check paying $10 per error. Someone's blooper is another's alternative income stream. (Or maybe just dinner out.)
